Fresh Breeze from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Monday, March 1, 2010

Shopblog

Heya. Thanks to everyone who made this possible, from Z to my fam and friends who support and encourage me. Fresh Breeze, from Kingdom Hearts, Birth by Sleep. Go be Ventus, you, and send pics! Forgot to take pictures of the rose for the Sword of Dios- I'll get to that. I'm way ahead of schedule on that one, which I'll take!

Running is going well, if only the snow would vacate. The Sportband from nike helped mucho. Last week did a three mile trail run in the snow that felt like five. Well, let's face it- I have zero skill at judging distance. Ran it again yesterday with the sportband and it wasn't three- it was seven and a quarter. Uh, huh. XP What do you do? So I can feel good about it right? Good.

Listening to the Steeldrivers- terribly hillbilly. Thanks, Rick.

I think the repair man's found a simpler than expected fix for the dryer- thanks to Kevin, of George's Appliances. If you're in the area and would like to hold on to your $- Call George's.

Heading off to watch some Samurai Jack and eat dinner with the boy. Be good to you.

Over and out.

Fresh Breeze Preview

Heya. I wasn't going to post another update until this was finished, but was so pleased with the colors coming together that I thought I'd indulge. Finally found the copper color I was looking for, although I believe I'll still mix some orange and umber into the final mix. The handle needs textured and blacked, shadows added and then clear clear clear! Near the end of every project I hate them just a little bit, and then as the finish approaches I don't really want it to end either! So I nit-pick, and do a little more work than I plan, just to make it pop. Oh, well, that's part of what makes them. If you perfect something it never happens, so I've learned to rip myself away at the last. That's enough! LET IT GO. Okay, okay.

Nike Sportband+ arrived today! Then it snowed. Ahem... fuck. I am SO through with the snow. Tuesday's run was an exercise in slosh. I stayed dry for the first thirty or forty minutes, but by the end I was running straight through the deeper puddles- it was easier than navigating the melting ice. Friday will be the ten mile mark, bringing the weekly total to fifteen- seventeen if the snow will clear enough. Once I reach twenty for the week I'll hold and just make it faster- I think. Then again, it seems to be overboard or nothing. And yes, like seeing the girls from the corner of your peripheral vision, it's not even the marathon that I am seeing- it the Ultras. Sigh. There's only one way to let me know- knock me down. But I'll be planning even as I'm lifting myself from the ground. Cross your fingers and wish me luck.

The Sword of Dios is on my mind. I've been working on the rose for the butt of the sword, maybe the most defining part- that and the emerald section in the handle. The motorcycle after that, theme based on the Bruce Lee movie Game of Death. Dragons and yellow track suits and Kareem, oh my!

Where do we go from here? Is this the question that we all ask? Every week? Month? Decade? Just figured what to do in Bioshock. Duh. It's hard to think straight when the mad Doc is throwing bombs down on you. The blockade, and the newly found telekinesis... oh, yeah.

Tom Waits is shuffling on the ipod, claiming that angels in heaven sign his name. Another lie, no doubt, after which he will rasp and laugh. Now Phish and the great track Dirt- if you ever think of me- kneel down and kiss the earth and show me what this thought is worth- I'll never hear your voice again. Now instrumental. If I feel you, if you move me, you stay. Now crescendo. Thanks for listening.

Cajun chicken in the oven, making its way toward done. Just got off the phone with a friend that I'm still angry with. Not blazing pissed, mind you, but fatigued with his inability to change, and my own tolerance for putting up with him for so damn long. Love ya, but I can do that from a distance. It'll keep me from kicking your ass or telling you to have a nice life. I used to admire the attitude- fuck you, I'll get my shit together when I'm good and ready. Yeah! But it's not true. What we're really saying is I'm afraid, but don't tell anyone. We'll just stay here and build a wall to shoot from. Fine. Stay for a weekend. Stay for a year. But move on. You have to move on. Or we'll leave you behind.

Not sure what else to tell you tonight. I hope you're doing well, and moving forward with whatever matter to you. Oh, yeah- quote of the week, compliments of Roger Ebert-

"Resentment is like letting someone live rent-free in a room inside your head."

"Friends don't suspect friends- they turn them in."-Brazil/ Birth by Sleep

Update. Keyblade Fresh Breeze coming along. Very pleased with the progress on this one. Time for bodywork and nit-picking. After that paint and clear. Fini! I am hoping to wrap it this weekend, but it may take another week, depending on the level of anal retentiveness.

Sword of Dios following, another project I’m looking forward to. Almost have the template for that finished. Then back to moto-sport stuff with custom fairing work for a Bruce Lee/Dragon bike. There’s little imagination in the local bike world- let’s see about that. And furthest down the Road- a Jack Kerouac/Route 66 mural for an rv. You guys are crazy, but we’re good company.

Lessee… what else? Way too much snow for us Ohioans. I’ve begun to wonder if someone will pay me to do all this shoveling. I know, but I can dream.

Just started BioShock- beware of Big Daddy- and so far favor the wrench. Lightning from the hands is cools, too, although with the first round of Scaries I’m pretty sure it came from my ass. I blame the phone ringing at the same time. For those with any Steampunk tendencies I highly recommend BioShock so far. Very Brazil, with propaganda posters and ads along the way you can’t pass on stopping to read.

From me to you.

PS3 Calling/ Fesh Breeze/Revolutionary Girl

Shop Blog

The shop is very cold. Even with the heater my breath still steams my goggles. Keyblade Fresh Breeze is on the table, template refined, cut, and laid out- the main cuts almost finished. Another fifteen minutes, although the prospect of finishing seemed unbearable as the temps began to dip again. Looking good, and pleased with what promises to be a very cool piece. More pics in a day or so.

From there we go on to the next project- the Sword of Dios, from Utena, Revolutionary Girl. Another very nice project by the cool people of cosplay.

Before long I'll quit bitching about the weather and start hunting the seeds and plants I want for the garden this year. Completely missed the Amaranths/Love Lies Bleeding last year. This year will be different- a huge block of drooping red is what I see. That, and Cosmos, Castor Beans, Cleomes, the usual suspect vegetables, and maybe a money tree or three. If they fruit out, I'll send seed! What is the latin for a money tree?

Work is finished for the day- I think the ps3 is calling.... Be good to you.

Ventus' Fresh Breeze, of Kingdom Hearts- Birth by Sleep,

Friday, February 5, 2010

Alright. Here we go. Next in line. Ventus' keyblade Fresh Breeze, from Kingdom Hearts, Birth by Sleep. Now all we have to do is raise the temperature in the shop! There are several different versions of this, even by screen grabs, so I'm sticking to the general reference pics provided, with a few minor alterations that will help the final piece to pop. Everything is in design and drawing, notes scribbled all over the pages. Material purchased, template nearing completion, I'm nearly ready to brave the cold and get this going. Thanks to Z on this one. Pics as soon as they're available. Be good to you.
